ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO II PROJECT 1 : DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION

THE ROBIE HOUSE BY FRANK LLYOD WRIGHT

TASK:
We were given an architect following by one of the building designed by the famous architect. We then have to do research on it through surfing and also books from the library. After that we had to come out with a 5 minutes video about the architect and the building, A3 drawings of the building, The Robie House and also conceptual model based on the building as well.

LEARNING OUTCOME:

1) Ability to identify master architects and their works
2) Understanding basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames
3) Ability to ‘diagram’ and analyse architectural work of selected architect

Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

In this project, I've learned a lot fro the famous architect, especially on how he designed the house with elements and also how he adapts to the site perfectly with no doubts. Not only that, this projects helps to improve my architectural knowledge and also critical thinking skills as I had to find elements from the house itself to create the conceptual models. It was a very great experience as we were given one of the most famous building, The Robie House and I am hoping forward to work harder for the upcoming projects.
