Methods of Documentation and Measured Drawings

ISTANA NEGARA LAMA

We were assigned a specific location for us to conduct this project. We had to come out with an on-site sketchbook, document for measured drawings, report and also video with a group of 37 students. The aim of this project is to teach us how to document the significant historical building.

PROJECT 1

For this project, my task was to sketch on the site to document the physical and intangible places of the building relating to the Genuis Loci, Poetic Quality, Cultural Attributes and also Construction Details. Each sketch was produced with full of thoughts so that the sketches can comprise the categories above.

PROJECT 2

My task for project 2 was to document the building, Istana Negara and to produce accurate measured drawings. I had to measure the building using measuring tape and laser with my group mates and then draw them out using AutoCad. Moreover, we also had to come out with a 3D model of the Istana Negara.

Reflection

Digital Literacy
  Intrapersonal Skills
 Communication Skills

This is one of the biggest project that I've encountered throughout my architecture life. It wasn't as tough as I thought it would be at first. It was a great experience using digital softwares on projects for me as it was my first time using AutoCad for the drawings. Moreover, I enjoyed and learned a lot while being at the site measuring and cad them out. This project requires very good teamwork so that everything can run smoothly. I learned that we have to communicate well and work with our teammates no matter what to get the job done because it cannot be done alone but more efficiently while being done in a big group. I was grateful that my seniors were very helpful to teach us a lot.
